ICHCA’s special anniversary event in October 2017 is a chance for all stakeholders to come together to deliver safer, more efficient and sustainable cargo handling from first to last mile

23.01.2017 – ICHCA International, the global cargo handling NGO association, will mark 65 years of supporting the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the global cargo handling industry at a special anniversary event running from 2-6 October 2017 in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.

At a time of great change for world trade, shipping, port and land transport operations, including exponential developments in digital and automation technologies, ICHCA’s 65th Anniversary Event is a chance to reflect on the journey so far and look ahead to the future. How can all the supply chain stakeholders come together to deliver safer, more efficient and sustainable cargo handling throughout the chain? How can best practice be disseminated and implemented on a truly global scale? And what role can innovative technology play in addressing current and future challenges?

These are just some of the big issues to be explored at the high-level two day conference, focused on continuous improvement and information sharing across safety in cargo handling and operational efficiency around the globe. The conference will be complemented by an exhibition of products and services, and a site visit to the Port of Las Palmas, a thriving and diverse centre for cargo, cruise, fishing, ship supply and offshore services, and a key hub for African international trade.

There will also be extensive networking opportunities including two drinks receptions. The Official 65th Anniversary Reception & Awards Evening will see the winners of prestigious Awards announced, including ICHCA’s 2nd TT Club Innovation in Safety Award, the Annual Las Palmas Port Awards and special ICHCA John Strang A.O. Memorial Award for a significant contribution to the cargo handling industry. The Conference & Exhibition will be followed by the 78th meeting of ICHCA’s ISP Technical Panel on 5 October and annual CARC meeting on 6 October.

“ICHCA is delighted to stage this special anniversary event which will bring all supply chain members together to map out practical responses to common challenges. Container and cargo safety are a collective responsibility and now more than ever before require robust cross-party dialogue and understanding,” said Capt. Richard Brough, ICHCA International’s Technical Adviser. “We look forward to welcoming you to Las Palmas this October to continue our shared efforts to improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the industry.”

ICHCA is offering all attendees who book before 31 May a 25% reduction on the full conference rate. Book now via this link: http://www.etouches.com/ichcaconference2017.
